KOTA KINABALU: About 80% of Sabah Barisan Nasional's candidates are fresh faces, which shows the coalition's commitment to provide credible and qualified people aligned with the aspirations of the people, says Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

The Sabah Barisan chairman said that the 41 candidates are capable and will be able to deliver reforms to ensure the state's development.

He said the candidates include professionals such as two doctors, namely Dr Shahnon Rizal Thaijuddin (who will contest the Sulaman seat) and Dr Elmiariezan Ardan (Apas), adding that the candidates have a deep understanding of the needs of the people.

"The selection of these two medical professionals is proof that Sabah Barisan is serious about offering high-quality candidates with intellectual capability, professional expertise and empathy for the people," he said when announcing the names of the candidates on Sunday (Nov 9), adding that the majority of Barisan's candidates are degree holders.

"Sabah Barisan carries a continuous commitment to champion the state's development," said Bung Moktar.

Barisan named 41 candidates on Sunday and is expected to name a few more over the next few days.

Barisan, which ruled the state from 1994 to 2019, are adopting the campaign tagline "Bikin Balik Sabah" (Rebuild Sabah), referring to the damage done by successive governments after it lost power.
