KOTA KINABALU: Frozen chicken and live roosters used for cockfighting were among items worth over RM21mil that were seized in a series of integrated raids dubbed “Ops Chiller and Ops Manuk” statewide.

The Sabah Brigade General Operations Force said the raids yesterday were conducted in 15 districts including Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Tawau, Sandakan, Beluran, Keningau, Lahad Datu and Semporna among others.

“These raids started around 9am where our personnel seized frozen chicken, roosters, storage equipment and other items believed related to smuggling activities throughout the state,” said Sabah PGA commander SAC Nor Omar Sappi during a press conference yesterday.

He said 24 suspects, comprising 17 men and seven women, aged between 18 and 61, were also arrested.
