GEORGE TOWN: A large sinkhole appeared in Bayan Lepas near a school on Tuesday evening (Nov 4).

State Infrastructure and transport committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari said his office has received information about the sinkhole along Jalan Datuk Ismil Hashim in Sungai Ara, Bayan Lepas.

"The state Public Works Department team is currently heading to the location to carry out emergency mitigation works to ensure the safety of road users.

"The public is advised to be cautious and comply with the instructions of personnel on duty at the location," he said in a statement.

Earlier, a video went viral of a motorist showing the sinkhole at the intersection of Jalan Datuk Ismil Hashim and Jalan Kenari.
