Selangor to decide soon on stalled WCE section involving 19 Kg Jawa residents, says MB

KUALA SELANGOR: The fate of 19 residents and landowners affected by the West Coast Expressway (WCE) project in Kampung Jawa, Klang, will be determined as early as next week, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pic).

The Selangor Mentri Besar said the decision will be reached in a special meeting involving state government representatives, WCE, and relevant ministries to address various outstanding issues, particularly concerning residents yet to relocate.

"The meeting will be held on Nov 3 to review the latest developments of the project, including several technical issues and misunderstandings among residents in the affected area.

"After that final meeting, we will have a definitive decision, with several technical issues and misunderstandings already identified and currently being remedied," he told reporters after opening the Selangor Heritage Food Festival 2025 here on Saturday (Nov 1).

The event, held at the Kuala Selangor Sports Complex Indoor Stadium, was also attended by state housing and culture committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah, state rural development, unity and consumer affairs committee chairman Datuk Rizam Ismail, and State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin.

Amirudin said the state government remains committed to ensuring the WCE project is fully completed without compromising the rights and interests of the affected residents.

"The state government stands firm in its commitment to resolving this matter in the best possible manner. We have informed WCE and also held discussions with the relevant ministries to ensure that justice is served to all parties involved.

"We want everyone to understand that the state government is not neglecting residents' complaints, but is instead ensuring that every decision is made comprehensively and responsibly," he also said.

He added that most of the misunderstandings previously arose from technical issues and miscommunication among the involved parties, which are now being addressed.

The WCE construction issue in Kampung Jawa has drawn public attention after reports emerged that 19 residents refused to relocate, even though most of the land-acquisition process had been completed by the authorities.

The WCE project, connecting Banting, Selangor, to Taiping, Perak, is one of the strategic infrastructure projects under the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) aimed at strengthening transportation and logistics networks along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

However, several stretches of the expressway in Selangor have reportedly faced land acquisition and technical adjustment issues, leading to construction delays and complaints from residents in the affected areas. – Bernama
