KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected across six states as well as Kuala Lumpur, with warnings in effect until 3pm on Thursday (Oct 30).
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the affected states were Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor and Sarawak.
Perlis, Kedah and Penang are under the warning for the entirety of their respective states.
In Perak, the districts of Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak are forecasted to be affected.
In Selangor, districts including Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak and Petaling are anticipated to experience severe weather conditions, along with Kuala Lumpur.
In Sarawak, the divisions of Sibu (Selangau), Mukah and Bintulu are under the warning.
MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour.
These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
