THE Education Ministry has reaffirmed that Chinese language classes can be held in national secondary schools (SMK) if there is demand from at least 15 parents, in line with the Education Act.
Minister Fadhlina Sidek said her ministry remains committed to providing balanced access to education regardless of race, status or background.
“To support the teaching and learning of the Chinese language in secondary schools, the ministry has projected the recruitment of 200 new Chinese language teachers for 2025,” she said in a written reply to Tanjung Piai MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng.
However, she said the appointments would depend on the number of applications received.
“The ministry is committed to ensuring equal access to education for all students. Therefore, Chinese language classes are open to all SMK schools, as long as the required conditions are met.”
