GEORGE TOWN: Imagine holding a 200-megapixel Hasselblad telephoto camera in your hand for all your photography needs.

You now can with the Oppo Find X9 and X9 Pro.

Global smart device brand Oppo unveiled its latest flagship smartphones at the opulent Lone Pine Hotel in Batu Ferringhi.

About 200 guests comprising media practitioners, influencers and tech experts gathered for the Malaysian launch held in sync with the global unveiling in Barcelona.

The Find X9 series represents Oppo's boldest step forward, combining powerful performance, a revolutionary 200 megapixel Hasselblad telephoto camera and a massive 7,000+mAh battery in a sleek, durable design.

Oppo Malaysia senior vice president and chief product officer Pete Lau said the Find X9 series marked a giant leap in mobile imaging, driven by industry-leading innovations such as the 200 megapixel Hasselblad telephoto camera.

"As Oppo's new-generation flagship, it delivers a comprehensive, top-to-bottom upgrade that sets a new global standard for smartphone excellence," he said.

He added that the series continued Oppo's legacy of imaging excellence with a new-generation Hasselblad Master Camera System that blended cutting-edge optics with computational photography.

The Find X9 features a 50 megapixel main camera using a 1/1.4-inch Sony LYT-808 sensor with f/1.6 aperture, a 50 megapixel ultra-wide camera with autofocus for macro photography and a 50 megapixel periscope telephoto camera powered by a 1/1.95-inch Sony LYT600 sensor for high-quality zoom.

"An industry-first True Color Camera precisely measures ambient light for lifelike colour accuracy even in difficult lighting," Lau said.

The Find X9 Pro raises the bar with an Ultra XDR main camera built on a 1/1.28-inch Sony LYT 828 sensor and Real-Time Triple Exposure technology, capturing richer details in shadows and highlights.

Its signature 200 megapixel Hasselblad telephoto, built on a 1/1.56-inch sensor with f/2.1 aperture, offers unmatched zoom and macro capability with a 10cm minimum focus distance. Oppo's Active Optical Alignment process improves resolution by 15%. Debuting with the new series is the Lumo Image Engine, which enhances clarity, dynamic range and colour fidelity while cutting CPU use by 50%, memory by 60% and power by 50%.

"Users can shoot in full 50 megapixel resolution or switch intelligently to 25 megapixels or 12 megapixels for low-light scenes," Lau said.

Lau also revealed that the two phones debut 4K motion photos, allowing any video frame to be extracted as a high-resolution still.

Both models record 4K 120fps Dolby Vision HDR video, while the Pro extends this to its telephoto lens.

Professional users can capture in LOG format with ACES certification for cinematic colour grading.

The 200 megapixel sensor's lossless zoom up to 13.2x and enhanced digital zoom up to 120x make it ideal for concerts and live shows, with Stage Mode automatically tuning tone and contrast in low light.

The Find X9 Pro also supports a Hasselblad teleconverter, turning it into a 10x optical super-zoom camera with 200x digital zoom for photos and 50x for video.

Despite its slim 7.99mm body, the Find X9 houses a 7,025mAh battery while the Pro packs 7,500mAh, both using Oppo's third-generation silicon carbon battery.

Capacity retention remains above 80% even after five years of normal use.

Charging is fast and flexible with 80W SuperVOOC wired, 50W AirVOOC wireless and 10W reverse wireless charging.

Both phones feature 1.15mm bezels, a 120Hz display with 3,600-nit peak brightness outdoors and 1-nit dimming indoors.

The Find X9 comes in Titanium Grey, Space Black and Velvet Red, while the Pro is available in Silk White and Titanium Charcoal, all with matte aluminium frames, fingerprint-resistant glass backs and IP66/IP68/IP69 protection.

Under the hood is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, built on TSMC's 3nm process, delivering 32% higher CPU performance with 55% less power draw.

The Arm G1-Ultra GPU boosts graphics by 33% and the MediaTek NPU 990 doubles AI performance.

Running on ColorOS 16, both models include AI tools such as AI Mind Space, AI Recorder and AI Portrait Glow, along with seamless cross-platform connectivity through the improved O+ Connect system for Mac and Windows.

Each comes with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The Find X9 retails at RM3,699, while the Find X9 Pro is priced at RM4,999 for pre-orders, which run until Nov 7.

Nationwide sales start Nov 8. Pre-order customers will receive gifts worth up to RM1,577, including a Laifen Mini Hair Dryer, a premium magnetic gift box and a one-year multi-regional warranty.

My Oppo App members get added perks such as a year's screen protection plan, a Kiehl's travel skincare set and a RM50 Kiehl's e-Gift Voucher.

Buyers can also enjoy RM200 off when purchasing the Oppo Enco X3s, Oppo Watch X2 series or Hasselblad teleconverter.
