Brothers killed after car collides with tanker in Kanowit


KANOWIT: Two brothers were killed when the car they were travelling in collided with a tanker lorry carrying oil along Jalan Majau near SK Ulu Majau here on Wednesday (Oct 29).

The victims have been identified as Musa Minggat, 50, and his elder brother, Budin Minggat, 69.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, they received a distress call at 12.32pm reporting a collision involving a compact car and a tanker lorry.

“Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found both victims trapped inside the compact car, while the lorry driver escaped unhurt,” the department said in a statement.

A rescue team from the Kanowit Fire and Rescue Station used Rescue Tool RTA (Road Traffic Accident) equipment to extricate the victims.

“Both victims were confirmed dead at the scene by Ministry of Health personnel and handed over to the police for further action,” it added.
