Haka performance for Anwar at NZ-Asean 50th anniversary lunch

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was greeted with a Kapa Haka performance at the 50th anniversary lunch to commemorate New Zealand-Asean ties.

The Kapa Haka is Māori performing art that involves a combination of waiata (song), choreographed movement, chanting and actions.

Anwar was accompanied by New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, who hosted a lunch at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel here on Tuesday (Oct 28) featuring New Zealand cuisine.

The lunch was held after the Asean-New Zealand Commemorative Leaders' Summit to mark the 50th anniversary of Asean and New Zealand as dialogue partners.

Earlier at the summit, Luxon said trade between South-East Asian nations and Wellington had grown from strength to strength.
