Lorry owner fined for obstructing civil servant from performing duty


KUALA TERENGGANU: A lorry owner has been fined RM3,500, in default five months in jail, for obstructing a Road Transport Department (JPJ) officer carrying out his duties.

Magistrate Noor Mazrinie Mahmood meted out the fine on Mohammad A'imullah Che Ambok, 31, who pleaded guilty to the charge at the Magistrate's Court here on Monday (Oct 27).

Mohammad A'imullah was charged with committing the offence during a JPJ check conducted in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Padang Air, Jalan Tepoh at 1.30pm on Oct 22.

The charge, under Section 186 of the Penal Code, provides a maximum jail sentence of two years or a fine of up to RM10,000 upon conviction.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Nur Anith Nabilah Rusli, while the accused was represented by lawyer Abdul Hayyi Salim. – Bernama
