Investigation launched after six-year-old boy injured in Johor

BATU PAHAT: Police are conducting an investigation into a case involving a boy who suffered neck injuries believed to have been inflicted with a sharp object.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said a report about the incident was lodged by a 40-year-old local woman at 9am on Monday (Oct 27).

He said the incident involving a six-year-old boy occurred at a house in Parit Raja, Batu Pahat, Johor.

“The woman stated that upon waking from her sleep at around 5.30am, she discovered her son had neck injuries,” ACP Shahrulanuar said in a statement on Monday.

He advised the public to refrain from making comments on the case on social media platforms without verifying first with the relevant authorities, as it could jeopardise the ongoing police investigation.

“This could also affect the reputation of any party when it is likely to be misinterpreted by the public according to their respective interpretations,’’ added ACP Shahrulanuar.

He reminded members of the public not to make the photos regarding the case go viral, as their actions are against the law and legal action can be taken against them under Section 15 of the Child Act 2001.

ACP Shahrulanuar said the case was being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which addresses the offence of voluntarily causing grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or means.
