Russian Deputy PM Overchuk arrives in Malaysia for 20th East Asia Summit


SUBANG: Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk arrived in Malaysia Sunday (Oct 26) to attend the 20th East Asia Summit (EAS) on Monday, held in conjunction with the 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits.

The special aircraft carrying Overchuk and his delegation, including Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrey Rudenko, landed at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Base in Subang at 5pm and was received by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

Malaysia, as Asean Chair 2025, is hosting more than 30 world leaders, including those from Asean member states as well as the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, to strengthen engagement and cooperation while addressing regional and global challenges of mutual concern.

Leaders and representatives from international bodies such as the United Nations, International Monetary Fund, World Bank and the International Federation of Association Football (Fifa) are also attending the high-level meetings.

The 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits is taking place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from today till Tuesday. - Bernama
