Man found drowned in Rantau Panjang


PASIR MAS: The body of a man, believed to be in his 30s, was found drowned near the riverbank of Sungai Kampung Lanchang in Rantau Panjang on Sunday (Oct 26) evening.

Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Senior Fire Officer II Hamdan Mamat said the department received a distress call at 7pm from a member of the public.

"Eight personnel from the Rantau Panjang Fire and Rescue Station were deployed to conduct a search and rescue operation, assisted by the Water Rescue Unit,” he said in a statement the same day.

Hamdan said the team found the victim about 55 minutes later near the spot where he was believed to have fallen.

The body was handed over to the police for further action. - Bernama
