Three vehicle crash in Simpang Renggam kills two


JOHOR BARU: Two people died while three others were injured in an accident involving three vehicles in front of the Kenangan Mosque, Kampung Bukit Kenangan, Simpang Renggam, on Saturday (Oct 25).

Senior Fire Officer II (PBKII) Shoromi Salih from the Renggam Fire and Rescue Station said that they received an emergency call regarding the incident at about 5:16pm before a team was deployed to the location.

He said the accident involved a hatchback, pickup truck and a van.

"The victims who died inside the hatchback, identified as Rulijah Ahmad, 51, and a male passenger, Salam Norazli, 15, were confirmed dead by the Health Ministry authorities.

"Another passenger, a nine-year-old boy, Osama Norazli, sustained injuries," he said in a statement the same day.

He said the driver of the factory van, B. Chandran, 53, was also injured, while the driver of the pickup, an adult male, had been taken by the public to a nearby clinic before the rescue team arrived.

According to him, all victims had been extricated by the public before the arrival of the fire department team.

He said the injured victims were handed over to the ministry’s ambulance for further action, while the deceased victims were handed over to the police for investigation.

He added that assistance at the location also involved two ambulances and two police patrol vehicles.

"Road clearing work using one hose reel line with water sourced from the fire engine was carried out and completed at about 7:01pm," he said. - Bernama
