Man pleads guilty to hurting daughter with machete


KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man pleaded guilty to a charge of injuring his 10-year-old daughter with a machete two days ago.

However, Sessions Court judge Dr Azrol Abdullah set next Wednesday for the case facts and sentencing.

K. Vejesh, 49, was charged with voluntarily causing hurt to his daughter at a flat unit in Setapak, Wangsa Maju, here at about 1.30am on Oct 22, Bernama reported.

He was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code and can be punished under Section 326A of the same Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment of 10 years, or a fine, or whipping, or any two of these punishments, upon conviction.

Under Section 326A of the Penal Code, the accused faces a penalty of up to twice the maximum imprisonment term for the offence.

Deputy public prosecutor Nur Shakila Mohd Shariff prosecuted the case while the accused was unrepresented.
