Mosques, surau under Jakim, Jawi told to hold special prayers for Al-Aqsa mosque, Palestinians

KUALA LUMPUR: All mosques and suraus under the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) and the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) have been instructed to hold solat hajat (special prayers).

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, said this is as a show of support for the struggle and wel-being of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the people of Palestine, who now face various tests and hardships, as well as to seek the protection of Allah SWT.

Mohd Naim also urged all State Islamic Religious Departments to hold solat hajat and doa munajat.

"Let us, all Muslims, strengthen our prayers, solidarity and moral support for the struggle to defend the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is the symbol of the dignity and sanctity of Muslims worldwide,” he posted on Facebook today.

Mohd Na’im also expressed his sadness and concern over the latest reports in the international media regarding the condition of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is now facing the risk of collapse due to aggressive excavation work carried out by the Israeli zionist regime around and under the Old City of Jerusalem.

"Indeed, the Al-Aqsa Mosque is not just a historical building, it is the first kiblat (direction of prayer) of Muslims and among the three most sacred mosques in Islam.

"Every inch of its land is a symbol of tauhid (the oneness of God), unity and dignity of Muslims worldwide. As such, its security and well-being must be preserved and defended,” he said. - Bernama
