Two motorists die in separate incidents in Johor


JOHOR BARU: A man died from falling off his motorcycle and being dragged along the Pasir Gudang Highway here on Wednesday (Oct 22).

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the 57-year-old motorcyclist was riding from Skudai towards Pasir Gudang when the incident took place at around 9.30pm.

“He initially scraped against an unidentified vehicle before falling and getting dragged along KM3.1 of the highway,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

He added that the victim died on the spot.

Separately, another man was killed in an accident in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah at around 1am on Thursday.

ACP Balveer said the 50-year-old victim was driving from Mutiara Rini when he lost control of his vehicle and hit the back of a parked van at Jalan Perkasa 3, Taman Ungku Tun Aminah.

“The driver sustained severe internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said, adding that both cases are investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
