Seremban teen pleads guilty to raping minor

SEREMBAN: A teenager pleaded guilty in the Sessions court here to a charge of raping a girl who was two months short of turning 16.

The accused, 18, did not contest the charge after it was read to him before judge Surita Budin.

He was charged with committing the offence in the bedroom of a house in Senawang near here in mid-January 2023.

He was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Balkis Zunaidi then told the court her team was offering the accused bail of RM8,000 pending sentencing.

She said this was to allow the submission of a probation report on the accused from the Welfare Department.

The father of the accused then told the court he worked as an administrative assistant in a government department and could only raise RM3,000 for bail.

The victim, he said, also suffers from epilepsy and was currently undergoing treatment.

Judge Surita then set bail at RM7,000 with one surety and ordered the accused to report to the nearest police station once a month till his case is disposed of.

She then fixed Nov 19 for the next mention.
