Rapid Bus to enhance on-demand services, expands zone coverage starting November

KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus), the operator of the Rapid KL On-Demand van services in the Klang Valley, will improve its services through the streamlining of its booking applications and expansion of its service zones starting next month.

Rapid Bus acting chief executive officer Ku Jamil Zakaria said they will consolidate three existing booking apps - Mobi, Trek Rides and Kummute - into a single integrated application, called Rapid On-Demand, to facilitate the booking process and enhance user experience.

"This streamlining will be implemented in stages, starting with the zones currently using the Mobi and Trek Rides apps (Phase 1) on Nov 1, 2025, followed by zones using the Kummute app (Phase 2) in the middle of November 2025.

"With this streamlining, users now only need to use one app to make Rapid On-Demand bookings in all zones operated by Rapid KL, making the travel experience easier, faster and more user-friendly," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 22).

In addition, Ku Jamil said the zone expansion will be carried out in stages to enhance connectivity and make it easier for users to travel to various destinations without having to change services.

"Previously, users had to download and use different apps based on the zones, which could be confusing. With this single app, the booking process becomes easier, faster and consistent across all service areas," he said.

The new zones will involve 50 vans and combine, among others, the Metro Prima-Taman Botani Kepong (FRIM) stations, the Serdang Raya Selatan-Taman Bukit Serdang stations, the Semantan-Menara DBKL stations and the Semantan-KTM Segambu stations.

He added that the zone combination is implemented to widen service accessibility and increase connectivity between key areas.

He said the move is to ensure users can travel more easily to more destinations without having to change services, thus making public transport a more efficient and user-friendly option.

The Rapid On-Demand app can be downloaded for free on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, while existing users are advised to switch to the new app before Nov 1 to ensure smooth service access.
