KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat sitting on Wednesday (Oct 22) will discuss key issues including the freezing of bank accounts under money laundering suspicions and the risks of AI misuse, scheduled for the question-and-answer session.
According to the Order of Business on the official Parliament website Teresa Kok Suh Sim (PH-Seputeh) will ask the Finance Minister regarding the government's measures for improving coordination between banks, Bank Negara and enforcement agencies.
The goal is to expedite the appeals process for bank accounts frozen under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities (AMLA) Act 2001 and to establish a procedure that is more transparent, effective and less burdensome for account holders.
Datuk Mumtaz Md Nawi (PN-Tumpat) has directed a question to the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation on the details of a green (wind) energy project from Vietnam, which will land in Kelantan before being channelled to Singapore.
She also wishes to know about the overall plans for green energy projects on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, within the context of the Asean region.
Additionally, Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan) will ask the Communications Minister about the Ministry’s past and future measures to curb the misuse of AI technology.
This includes tackling deepfakes, ChatGPT and other tools used to spread fake news and manipulate images and voices, which can cause public alarm and stir racial tension.
Following the question-and-answer session, the Dewan Rakyat will resume its fifth day of policy stage debate on the Supply Bill (Budget 2026), which was tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 18.
According to the Dewan Rakyat calendar, the policy-stage debate is scheduled for eight days, until Oct 28, followed by 14 days of committee-stage debate, from Nov 5 to 27.
The Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament will continue for 35 days, concluding on Dec 4. - Bernama
