BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police detained two more men to assist the investigation into the murder of a woman and her daughter in Kampung Sekolah Juru.
Penang police chief Comm Datuk Azizee Ismail said the men, one of whom is a foreign national, both in their 40s, were picked up separately yesterday.
“A detailed investigation is being carried out, including efforts to determine the actual motive for the killings.
“We will bring both suspects to court to obtain a remand order, and we believe they will be able to assist in the investigation,” he said when contacted.
The 51-year-old kuih seller and her 11-year-old daughter were found dead at their home, with indications suggesting they had been murdered. Their bodies were discovered by the woman’s husband at about 7.30pm.
The woman’s body was found in the downstairs kitchen, her head almost severed. Her daughter was found face down and covered in blood upstairs.
The police have remanded the 57-year-old husband for a week until Oct 25 to assist in the investigation.
The woman’s older brother, Bismi Che Hin, 60, stated that the manner of the killing was too cruel.
“She was cheerful and sociable, but I do not know if she had other problems. She used to be a kindergarten teacher and was very loving by nature,” he added.
