Suspect in body parts case to undergo 30-day psychiatric evaluation


KOTA KINABALU: The Magistrate's Court here has ordered a psychiatric evaluation on a 71-year-old man who was charged with murdering his ex-fiancee and dumping her dismembered body in several rubbish bins in Sepanggar here.

Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus issued the order against Piluta Samad to undergo mental observation at Hospital Mesra Bukit Padang for 30 days following an application by his lawyer Datuk Ram Singh when the case brought for mention on Wednesday (April 15).

Ram, making the application under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code, told the court that there was a need to evaluate Piluta's mental health.

The court fixed May 15 for mention.

On Feb 27, Piluta was charged with murdering his ex-fiancee Hamidah Husin @ Lisa, on Feb 11, 2026, between in a house in Kampung Sri Kenangan, Jalan Sepanggar.

No plea was recorded.

The court was also informed that the post-mortem and chemist reports were still not ready and sought an adjournment.

On Feb 27, Piluta was charged with the murder of 44-year-old Hamidah Husin.

Her severed body parts were found in several rubbish bins in the Indah Permai township area.
