Victim’s brother condemns ‘cruel’ Juru killings, urges thorough probe

SEBERANG JAYA: “I cannot accept the suspect’s actions, as the manner of the killing was too cruel and worse than an animal,” says the brother of the woman murdered in Kampung Sekolah Juru on Saturday (Oct 18).

Bismi Che Hin, 60, said his 51-year-old sister Suraya Che Hin was the youngest of six siblings and was friendly and well liked.

“She was cheerful and sociable, but I do not know if she had other problems. She used to be a kindergarten teacher and was very loving by nature,” he added.

“She had one biological child and two adopted children, and the deceased was an adopted child cared for since young,” added Bismi.

He spoke to reporters at the Seberang Jaya Hospital Forensic Unit on Sunday (Oct 19) saying that he learned about the murders at around 7pm from the victim’s child.

“I found out at about 7pm from her child, but I was not sure. So I called my in-laws to confirm, and I rushed there,” he added.

However, Bismi said he was not allowed to approach the scene and only received information from the public.

“We do not know what actually happened, and all sorts of stories are being spread,” he said.

Bismi said that the last time he met Suraya was at her child’s wedding.

Regarding his sister’s second marriage, Bismi admitted he did not know much about the man’s background.

“I did not know, and I heard they were married, but I never spoke with her current husband. They were married for not even five years,” he added.

Still shocked, he urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation and mete out appropriate punishment to the suspect.=

He hoped the police would provide justice for his sister and niece, who were brutally killed.

It is understood the bodies will be buried at the Kampung Masjid Islamic Cemetery, Jeniri after post mortems.

Earlier, the media reported that a 51-year-old woman and her 11-year-old daughter were found by the husband at 7.30pm.

They were found at their rented home in Kampung Sekolah Juru.

The woman’s body was found in the downstairs kitchen with her head almost severed.

Her daughter was found face down and covered in blood upstairs.
