PLUS encourages use of MyPLUS-TTA for smoother Deepavali travel

KUALA LUMPUR: Highway users have been advised to plan their journeys and refer to the travel schedule available via MyPLUS-TTA in the PLUS application, as PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS) will issue the schedule digitally for travel on the PLUS Highway and the East Cost Expressway 2 (LPT2) from Oct 17 to 22.

PLUS, in a statement Thursday (Oct 16), said traffic on its highway network is expected to increase to up to 2.2 million vehicles daily on peak days, particularly on Oct 17, 18, and 21, in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration and additional school holidays.

"PLUS has made preparations and is placing special focus on traffic distribution, congestion management, and user comfort to help the public enjoy a smoother, safer, and more comfortable journey on the highways during this Deepavali festive season," read the statement.

It stated that with the latest improvements, MyPLUS-TTA is now accessible not only during festive seasons but also on selected peak days, designed to help highway users plan their journeys on the PLUS Highway and the LPT2 more efficiently, ensuring a smoother traffic flow.

PLUS advised the public to arrange their travel schedules based on MyPLUS-TTA, not only for journeys leaving the Klang Valley to their hometowns, but also for their return journeys to the Klang Valley after the Deepavali holiday.

It said users can download or update the PLUS app to access the digital MyPLUS-TTA travel schedule.

On the government's announcement of a 50% toll discount for Class 1 vehicles (and Class 2 vehicles on the Penang Bridge), PLUS said the discount will be applicable from 12.01 am on Oct 18 to 11.59 pm on Oct 19.

However, the discount does not apply at toll plazas located at border entry points, namely the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Toll Plaza and the Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza on the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link Highway (Linkedua).

To further ensure smoother traffic flow, PLUS will activate Smart Lane operations at 28 strategic locations along the highway, especially at known congestion hotspots.

Additionally, the highway operator said there will be no scheduled lane closures for maintenance works on the PLUS Highway and LPT2 from Oct 17 to Oct 23, except in the event of accidents, emergency works, or critical repairs that pose safety risks and need to be addressed immediately.

"To help facilitate smoother journeys during the Deepavali festive period, PLUS is also taking several other measures, including preparations at toll plazas and rest and service areas (R&Rs).

"PLUS also seeks the cooperation of the public to plan their journeys and utilise public facilities such as restrooms and prayer rooms available at toll plazas or the nearest R&Rs along the highway," the statement added. - Bernama
