PLUS expects heavy traffic this weekend

PETALING JAYA: Traffic along most major highways is still relatively clear, but from tomorrow until Sunday, at least 2.2 million vehicles are expected to traverse PLUS Malaysia Bhd’s expressways.

This comes on the back of the convergence of the mid-year school holidays with three major celebrations – Hari Raya Aidiladha, Wesak Day and the official birthday of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

PLUS said the increasing number of vehicles will also involve a combination of long-distance traffic movements as well as inter-city travel between major towns heading towards the Klang Valley following the end of the festive and school holidays period.

To manage the expected surge, PLUS said smart lanes will be activated at 33 strategic locations.

“Motorists are advised to follow the MyPLUS Travel Time Advisory which can be accessed through the PLUS mobile application,” it said.
