Negri polls: Cops probing viral TikTok clip linking palace to political party

SEREMBAN: Police are probing a TikTok video alleging that the Negri Sembilan royal institution is under the control of a political party.

State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Alzafny Ahmad confirmed that police received 11 reports related to the case.

"We have opened an investigation paper under Section 4A(1) of the Election Offences Act 1954 and Section 505B of the Penal Code for making a statement conducive to public mischief," he said in a statement on Monday (July 27).

DCP Alzafny said the case is also being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 for improper use of network facilities or network services.

"The probe will cover the full contents of the video and the context of the speech made by the individual.

"We hope the public will not share the recording or speculate on the matter," he added.

He also urged the public to use social media responsibly and to refrain from touching on race, religion and royalty (3R) issues.
