PUTRAJAYA: Eligible transport companies in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan that have yet to receive their fleet cards under the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) by July 1 will be allowed to claim cash reimbursements.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the reimbursement facility would enable public land transport and goods transport companies to claim the difference between the retail diesel price and the subsidised SKDS rate while waiting for their fleet cards.
He said the use of fleet cards under the SKDS would take effect nationwide from July 1 following the implementation of targeted diesel subsidies.
Under the mechanism, eligible public land transport operators in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan would continue to enjoy subsidised diesel at RM1.88 per litre.
Goods transport operators would pay RM2.15 per litre.
Registration for the SKDS in the three territories for the public land transport sector opened on June 10, 2024.
Applications for the goods transport sector began on May 4 this year.
As of June 22, a total of 8,445 companies involving 30,557 vehicles had registered under the scheme.
Armizan said registration involved two stages.
"Companies must first register through the MySubsidi portal. Applications that are complete and fulfil the requirements will receive approval letters immediately.
"The approval letter must then be used to apply for a fleet card from the preferred oil company," he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 24).
He said the issuance and delivery of fleet cards by oil companies usually take two to three weeks, depending on their internal processes.
To qualify for the reimbursement, companies must have registered under the SKDS and applied for fleet cards on or before June 30.
The reimbursement covers diesel purchases made from July 1 until July 31, or until the fleet card is received, whichever comes first.
Claims can be submitted through the MySubsidi portal and must be supported with diesel purchase receipts uploaded to the system.
Armizan said the Finance Ministry would credit the reimbursement into the bank account of the company within 15 working days after verification.
This verification will be done by the SKDS administrator at the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.
He urged eligible public and goods transport companies in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan to register for the SKDS and apply for fleet cards as early as possible to ensure uninterrupted access to subsidised diesel.
