Four teens involved in Melaka school rape case to be charged in court today, says AGC

PETALING JAYA: The four individuals involved in the rape of a Form Three female student in Alor Gajah, Melaka, will be charged at the Melaka Magistrate’s Court, said the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) on Thursday (Oct 16).

In a statement issued today (Oct 16), the AGC said it had reviewed investigation papers submitted by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and found sufficient grounds to press charges against the suspects involved in the case.

“The Chambers has decided that the individuals will be charged under Sections 375B and 377B of the Penal Code [Act 574], as well as Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 [Act 792],” it said.

The AGC added that the charges will be brought before the Melaka Magistrate’s Court, which has the appropriate local jurisdiction.

Reaffirming its commitment to justice, the Chambers emphasised that every offence involving children and sexual crimes will be prosecuted and handled fairly in accordance with the law.
