Zara’s inquest: 11th child witness testifies

KOTA KINABALU: The proceedings of the inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir resumed on Monday (Oct 13) with the testimony of the 20th witness at the Coroner's Court here.

The testimony of the 11th child witness was heard “in camera” before Coroner Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan, reported Sinar Harian.

During the proceedings, which entered the 21st day, the child witness was accompanied by her mother.

Two additional child witnesses are also ready to testify if the 20th witness completes their testimony in the proceedings.

The inquest was attended by teams of lawyers authorised by the Coroner's Court as interested parties to represent their respective clients, including Zara Qairina's mother and father.

Meanwhile, media personnel are not permitted to cover proceedings while child witnesses testify in court.

The late Zara Qairina was found unconscious under her school dormitory building in the early morning of July 16 before being pronounced dead at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE) the next day.
