KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has denied allegations by a former sergeant that it deliberately delayed the implementation of a Court of Appeal order to retry his case without reasonable grounds.
RMAF chief Gen Datuk Seri Muhamad Norazlan Aris (pic) said it took a serious view of the order, but the implementation was subject to service procedures and legal provisions.
He said the RMAF had taken steps to implement the order and this matter would be further explained in the proceedings.
"RMAF is committed to ensuring that all actions taken are in line with the requirements of the law and public service procedures," he said in a statement on Monday (Oct 13).
Gen Norazlan said the RMAF took note of the Notice of Application for Committal submitted by Messrs Zalil Mohd & Partners which had been submitted to the Attorney General's Chambers for further action.
It was reported on Friday (Oct 10) that Ahmad Zaini Zainon, 42, convicted of drug offences by the Military Court, had filed an application for leave to commence committal proceedings against the RMAF chief for allegedly being in contempt of court.
Ahmad Zaini filed the application through the law firm of Messrs Zalil Mohd & Partners on Sept 25, seeking a committal order against the RMAF chief for failing to comply with the Court of Appeal's order to hold a retrial of his case. – Bernama
