PUTRAJAYA: The four male students accused of raping a Form Three girl in Alor Gajah, Melaka, will sit their SPM papers at a different location, says Education director general Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad.
He said the expelled students would not sit the examinations at their school.
“They will sit for the examination in a different location,” he said on Monday (Oct 13).
“If they are placed in a detention centre, the procedures are in the Examination Board’s SPM management handbook,” he added.
He said this at a special press conference at the Education Ministry and added that a comprehensive safety guideline will be introduced in December, consolidating findings of committees reviewing safety and welfare in schools.
“We will combine all findings into a comprehensive guideline that is easy to refer to.
The Education Minister will announce it in December,” he added.
On October 2, a Form Three student is believed to have been raped by two senior students.
The assault allegedly occurred in a classroom at about 2.50pm and was recorded and witnessed by two other students on mobile phones.
It was revealed after a video was shared among students before being reported to teachers and the victim’s mother on October 10.
On October 12, Fadhlina said the four male students will still be allowed to sit SPM from November 3.
She said the case remains under police investigation, but the students’ right to education must be upheld.
