PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged all parties not to question the involvement of local activists in humanitarian missions to help the people of Palestine, nor the the visit of US President Donald Trump in conjunction with the Asean Summit later this month.
He said that as the international community is focusing on finding a peaceful resolution in Gaza, Malaysians should likewise pray for the success of these efforts instead of fuelling unhealthy political polemics.
"The entire world, including Egypt, Qatar and Hamas, is focused on ensuring the success of the peace process. So we in Malaysia should do the same and pray for its success.
"Do not, for instance, oppose the visit (by Trump), because we are appealing to all countries, including Trump himself, to ensure that this agreement is signed and implemented,” he told reporters after prayers here on Friday (Oct 10).

Anwar added that if Hamas itself is showing a commitment to peace, it would be inappropriate for any quarters in Malaysia to create division.
"People are being killed, land is being seized, children and women are dying ... we want to stop this first," he stressed.
The Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation for Malaysian volunteers aboard the various Gaza humanitarian aid flotillas, hailing their courage and sacrifice.
"Not everyone is ready to put their lives on the line for the sake of the people in Gaza ... so to those who help, we say thank you and pray for them. This is the attitude that all Muslims, and all Malaysians, should have," he added.
He noted that the safe return of the nine Malaysians detained by the Israelis on Wednesday (Oct 8) was being arranged through the help of Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"We pray ... InsyaAllah, they will arrive in Istanbul safely ... I will announce (further developments) at the Budget 2026 session later," he said. – Bernama
