SERDANG: The Legal Centre for Arab Minority Rights in Israel (Adalah) has confirmed that all 145 activists from the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) x Thousand Madleens to Gaza (TMTG) have been transferred to Ketziot prison in Negev, Israel.
Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE) chief executive officer Kamarul Zaman Shaharul Anwar told Sinar Harian that Adalah has met with some of the detained Malaysian delegates and the legal proceedings are still ongoing.
According to him, the lawyers are submitting an application to meet with two more Malaysian delegates early this afternoon.
Kamarul Zaman added that his party does not deny that all activists including nine Malaysian citizens who joined the humanitarian mission faced violence by the Zionist regime during the interception.
"So far, the reports we have received indicate that the nine Malaysian delegates are in a safe condition.
"Seven of them have met with Adalah lawyers for further legal proceedings," he said.
He said this during a press conference on the latest developments regarding the nine Malaysian delegates of the FFC x TMTG mission at MyCARE Headquarters here on Thursday (Oct 9).
Kamarul Zaman also informed that three Turkish parliamentary delegates are likely to be sent home on Thursday night or Friday (Oct 10) morning.
"The tribunal hearing will take place within the next two days.
"Any further developments will be announced late this afternoon and we will share them at a press conference at 8pm tonight," he said.
Earlier, Sinar Harian reported that nine ships participating in the humanitarian mission were intercepted by Israeli forces in international waters when approaching the red zone on Wednesday (Oct 8) at around 10.50am Malaysian time.
The FFC x TMTG sailing mission crossing the Mediterranean Sea carried food supplies, medicines and messages of peace urging the war and hunger crisis to be stopped and demanding the opening of humanitarian corridors to Gaza.
Eight Malaysian delegates aboard the FFC-owned ship Conscience comprised mission chief, Emeritus Professor Dr Mohd Alauddin Mohd Ali, Dr Fauziah Hassan, Dr Hafiz Sulaiman, Dr Ili Syakira Mohd Suhaimi, Syafik Shukri Abdul Jalil, Prof Dr Mohd Afandi Salleh and Dr Noorhasyimah Ismail as well as MyCARE Board of Trustees member, Norsham Abu Bakar.
The largest ship Conscience involved 10 crew members, 20 international journalists, 21 medical experts, three Turkish parliamentarians, 34 activists and six FFC Steering Committee members.
