Former clinic employee pleads guilty to issuing fake MC


ISKANDAR PUTERI: A former private clinic employee pleaded guilty at the Johor Baru Magistrate’s Court on Thursday (Oct 9) for issuing a fake medical certificate (MC).

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said police received a report on the case from a doctor, who is also the owner of the clinic in Mutiara Rini, Skudai, near here.

“The report was lodged by the doctor on June 19, this year, and the accused was arrested the next day (June 20)," he said in a statement.

ACP Kumarasan said in the report, the doctor was alerted to the fake MC after receiving a call from personnel of a private company on a dubious MC purportedly issued by the clinic.

“The accused charged RM30 each day for issuing the fake MC in June this year," he said.

ACP Kumarasan said the accused was charged under Sections 465 (forgery) and 471 (using a forged document as genuine) of the Penal Code.

Those found guilty of offences under these sections can be punished with a jail term of up to two years, a fine, or both.

“A sentencing mention for the case is on Nov 11, 2025," he said.
