Pos Malaysia supporting National Sports Day with logistics, giveaways

PETALING JAYA: In conjunction with National Sports Day this Saturday (October 11), Pos Malaysia Berhad is rolling out initiatives to add excitement to the nationwide celebration.

Ipoh has been chosen as the main venue for the national level celebration at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh will officiate the event.

The Ipoh event is expected to draw over 300,000 participants from across Perak.

About 5.2 million Malaysians are set to join activities nationwide.

Activities include cycling, running, walking, street soccer, archery, arm wrestling, frisbee, rope jumping and cup stacking.

Highlights include the 35km Kayuhan Madani, 5km Larian Ria Madani and 3.5km Berjalan Ria Madani.

The 1,500 Steps initiative is held in conjunction with World Walking Day.

As a strategic partner, Pos Malaysia will distribute 15,000 running shirts for participants in Ipoh and Penang.

Pos Malaysia group chief executive officer Charles Brewer said the company’s role goes beyond logistics.

He said it aims to contribute to community development and healthy living.

“As the official strategic logistics partner, we support the movement of all logistical items for Perak and Penang,” he said.

This includes distribution of running tees, on ground retail presence and co branding with the Youth and Sports Ministry.

It also includes participation in the official flag off for the run.

“National Sports Day is a vital platform for a healthier, more united and spirited society,” he said.

“In line with our focus on community building and promoting healthy lifestyles, Pos Malaysia is proud to contribute,” added Brewer

“It reflects our purpose of building trust to connect lives and businesses for a better tomorrow,” he said.

He said it supports the nation’s goal of enhancing the well being of all Malaysians.
