KOTA KINABALU: Post mortem on the three policemen who were electrocuted when picking coconuts in Weston, Beaufort, Thursday (Aug 6) evening, have been completed.
Beaufort OCPD Supt Champin Piuh, when contacted, said the post mortem on the three victims - Chiu Teck Siong, 40, Mohamad Nur Hafiz Ibrahim, 29, and Muhammad Raimi Ismarubee, 26, - were completed by around noon, Friday (Aug 7).
“Documentation and other procedures are being carried out now, and the bodies will be sent back to their respective hometowns by this afternoon and tonight,” he said.
He said Kpl Chiu, from Sarawak, will be sent back on an air operations force flight (PGU) once documentation is complete.
The bodies of Lans Kpl Mohamad Nur Hafiz, from Kelantan and Lans Kpl Muhammad Raimi, are expected to depart from the Kota Kinabalu International Airport on an airforce plane at 7.30pm, said Supt Champin.
“At the moment, their bodies will be sent to the IPK mosque,” he said.
Earlier, it was reported that the trio were picking coconut fruits using a metal pole but one of them lost his balance, causing the pole to hit an electric cable.
All three were electrocuted, and were believed to have died on the spot.
Supt Champin took the opportunity to thank Sipitang MP Datuk Matbali Musah, Klias assemblyman Datuk Isnin Aliasnih and Lumadan assemblyman Datuk Ruslan Muharam for the moral support and for handing out aid to the families following this tragedy.
