PAC to summon Finance Ministry, Federal Court Chief Registrar's Office over latest A-G's Report

KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will summon the Finance Ministry and Federal Court Chief Registrar's Office to provide explanations on the issues raised in the Auditor-General’s Report (LKAN) Series 3/2025, released on Monday (Oct 6).

Its chairperson Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said two separate proceedings will be conducted to enable the PAC to review in detail two issues raised in the report.

"The Federal Court Chief Registrar's Office will be summoned to explain the findings related to the bail payment system, or e-Jamin.

“The Finance Ministry will be asked to provide details on the management of government vehicles under the concession company,” she said at a press conference in Parliament on Wednesday (Oct 8).

Mas Ermieyati said the dates for both proceedings would be determined later once the PAC has reviewed the full audit report and finalised the scope of its investigation.

Elaborating further, Mas Ermieyati said the latest Auditor-General’s Report stated that the performance of government vehicle management under the concession company remains unsatisfactory, with an estimated RM54.51mil in penalties not imposed.

The report also revealed that the vehicles were delivered late, but no claims or penalty charges were imposed on the concession company concerned.

An audit analysis based on data from the concession vehicle management system found that, as of Dec 31, last year, a total of 6,028 vehicles were delivered late between one and 508 days exceeding the delivery period of 60 working days from the date of order.

Meanwhile, Mas Ermieyati said that for this year, the PAC has tabled 14 reports, with another four proposed to be presented during the current parliamentary sitting.

She also announced that the PAC will conduct a working visit to monitor the progress of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project at the Boustead Naval Shipyard at the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) base in Lumut, Perak.

In June 2023, the PAC spent about two hours inspecting the construction status of the Second-Generation Patrol Vessel.

The visit was followed by the tabling of two related PAC reports in the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 9 and Nov 14 November in the same year.
