Sessions Court allows Vivy Yusof, husband temporary release of passports

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sessions Court has granted the temporary release of the passports of FashionValet founders Datin Vivy Yusof and Datuk Fadzarudin Shah Anuar to attend Islamic programmes in Istanbul and Bosnia.

Judge Rosli Ahmad allowed their application to obtain their passports from Tuesday (Oct7) until Nov 12.

“The court allows the application and the passport is handed over to the applicants from Tuesday. The passports will be returned to the court on Nov 13,” he added.

Earlier, lawyer Shaarvin Raaj said his clients will attend the Islamic Historical Retreat to Istanbul‑Bosnia with Sheikh Wael Ibrahim from Nov 4 until Nov 11.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Haresh Prakash Somiah said the prosecution was informed of the application and had no objections.

Previously, the court allowed temporary access to their passports for Umrah travels in December last year.

On December 5, Vivy and Fadzarudin were jointly accused of fraudulently paying RM8mil from FashionValet Sdn Bhd to 30 Maple Sdn Bhd without board approval.

According to the charge sheet, they were entrusted with monies that were investment funds from Khazanah Nasional and PNB.

The offence was allegedly committed at a Public Bank branch in Bukit Damansara on August 21, 2018.

They were charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code, read with Section 34.

If convicted, they face imprisonment of two to 20 years, whipping and a fine.

They are currently out on RM100,000 bail each.
