Selangor cops seize over RM25mil worth of drugs, bust two syndicates

SHAH ALAM: Police have busted two drug trafficking syndicates in the Klang Valley and seized 203.1kg of drugs worth RM25.15mil in several raids around Subang Jaya and Serdang on Oct 1 and 5.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said six men and a woman, aged from 30 to 56 were arrested and assets including three vehicles and cash amounting to RM158,350 were also seized.

He said the first arrest at 5.50pm on Oct 1 involved three men in a vehicle in front of a house in Subang Jaya where police found 50.3g of syabu (methamphetamine).

He said two more men and a woman, all locals, were found and arrested in the two-storey, together with 1.59kg of syabu and 100g of ecstasy.

"Interrogation of the suspects led to a raid on a second house in Subang Jaya and the seizure of 111.89kg of ecstasy pills and powder, 20.4kg of heroin and 1.8kg of heroin base as well as 17 bottles of liquid chemicals and three bottles of powdered chemicals," he said at a press conference here on Tuesday (Oct 7).

Shazeli said investigations found that the house was used to store drugs before distribution in the Klang Valley.

He also said that the house was being converted into a drug-processing laboratory.

"Five of six suspects have records for drug-related offences and all tested positive for drugs," he said.

In the second case, Shazeli said police stopped and arrested a mechanic by the roadside in Serdang at 1am on Sunday.

He said the suspect, a mechanic, had modified the boot of his sports utility vehicle (SUV) to store drugs.

He said the compartment required an access card to open and contained 63.7kg of syabu and 20.1kg of ecstasy pills estimated to be worth RM5.4mil.

"The compartment could accommodate drugs packed in several suitcases," he said.

Shazeli said the 39-year-old man is believed to be a runner to deliver drugs to Selangor and Johor and was paid from RM1,000 to RM3,000 per trip.

He said the mechanic also ran a business selling spare parts and a workshop for imported vehicles.

"Further checks found that the suspect had two previous drug-related offences and he also tested positive for drugs," he said.

Shazeli said all seven suspects were remanded for seven days to assist in investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama
