‘Coalition still strong despite exit’

KOTA KINABALU: The exit of two founding partners has not shaken Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), whose strength comes from the people’s strong support and good ties among component parties, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The GRS chairman is confident that the ruling coalition will get the mandate to administer Sabah for a second term.

“God willing, we will win the election. Together with our component friends, especially Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), we are still strong.

“GRS will continue to remain a strong and stable coalition in Sabah,” he said at the groundbreaking ceremony for a development project by Sabah Housing and Urban Development Board in Kampung Taka, Pitas.

This was Hajiji’s first public statement after Sabah STAR and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) pulled out of GRS following the Oct 1 presidential council meeting, which refused to allow them to contest under their own logo.

Hajiji, who is Chief Minister, said GRS remains open to any of its component parties intending to leave to contest solo in the coming state polls.
