MetMalaysia warns of thunderstorms in several states until 6pm (May 15)


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has warned of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several states until 6pm on Friday (May 15).

In a statement at 2.25pm on Friday, MetMalaysia said the states affected are Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kinta, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim); Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman); Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Kuantan, Bera and Rompin); Selangor; the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya; Negri Sembilan; Melaka and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian and Kulai).

It also warned of bad weather in Sarawak affecting areas in Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit and Bintulu, as well as Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro and Mukah).

In Sabah, the areas affected are the interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Nabawan, Keningau and Tambunan), the west coast, Tawau and Sandakan (Telupid and Beluran).
