SEREMBAN: A Forestry Department officer claimed trial at the Sessions Court to 116 charges of accepting bribes totalling RM649,169.68 from a contractor as an inducement to help him obtain a license to carry out logging work in a forest reserve in Pahang.
Nazri Husin, 54, who is now with the Negri Sembilan Forestry Department, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to him before Judge N. Kanageswari.
The accused was charged with accepting the bribes between 2019 and 2023 from Ching Fook Loong to carry out logging activities in a forest plantation project in the Lesong Forest Reserve area (Keratong sub-district) in Rompin, Pahang.
The accused was charged under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission Act 2009.
Judge Kanageswari then fixed bail at RM50,000 with one surety pending next mention.
She also ordered the accused to surrender his passport to the court and to report at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office once a month till his case is disposed of.
She fixed Nov 28 for next mention.
