PETALING JAYA: Wanita PKR at the natioinal level has taken over the administration of its Shah Alam branch with immediate effect.
The division failed to hold its annual meeting despite an extension and guidance from the party.
In a statement, Wanita PKR secretary Sangeetha Jayakumar said the move was made in line with the wing’s standing rules.
This came after Shah Alam Wanita PKR did not fulfil its constitutional obligation to conduct its women’s annual general meeting.
She said all Wanita divisions nationwide were required to hold their annual meetings within the stipulated period.
This requirement is part of the party’s governance process to maintain organisational integrity and leadership mandates.
"Despite the extension period and guidance provided, Shah Alam Wanita PKR still failed to fulfil the constitutional responsibility to conduct its annual general meeting until today," she said.
Sangeetha said Wanita PKR operated based on principles of accountability, discipline and compliance with party regulations.
"To ensure the welfare and activities of members in Shah Alam are not affected, Wanita PKR will take over, supervise and manage all administrative matters of Shah Alam PKR Wanita with immediate effect," she said.
She described the intervention as a routine measure aimed at addressing governance delays and strengthening the party structure.
Sangeetha also urged grassroots members in Shah Alam to remain calm and united.
She added that Wanita Keadilan remained committed to advancing the wing without disruption.
Meawnhile, Shah Alam PKR chief Najwan Halimi said the branch had conducted its own probe and found that only three committee members had confirmed that they had quit the party.
"Shah Alam PKR remains intact," he said in a statement Monday.
