Three cable theft suspects with criminal records nabbed in Perak


IPOH: Police have arrested three men after about 30m of telecommunications cable was reported missing in Pasir Puteh.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said Telekom Malaysia lodged a police report at 12.26pm on Thursday (Oct 2) regarding the alleged theft at Jalan Batik 6 in Pasir Kuning, Pasir Puteh.

"Preliminary investigations also identified a car believed to have been used in the incident.

"The car was said to have been rented by the suspects,” he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 3).

He said following the report, a joint team from the Ipoh district police headquarters and the Perak police contingent arrested three men, aged between 24 and 40, at several locations in Ipoh and Chemor.

"Checks revealed that all three had criminal records, including drug-related offences," he said.

A video of the alleged theft also went viral on social media.

ACP Abang Zainal Abidin urged anyone with further information to contact Ipoh police headquarters at 05-2451500, or the nearest police station.
