PETALING JAYA: Two state Bersatu leaders have urged the party’s disciplinary board to act swiftly on complaints of misconduct against several of its leaders to keep the party strong and respected in the public eye.
Terengganu Bersatu chief Datuk Razali Idris (pic) said the board must conduct its proceedings in a transparent and fair manner in line with the party’s constitution and regulations.
“Delays in handling the matter would only undermine the party’s integrity in the eyes of its members and the public.
“Firm and prompt action is crucial to ensure the party remains strong, credible and respected,” he said in a statement Monday (Sept 29).
Meanwhile, Negri Sembilan Bersatu chief Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker criticised certain quarters for issuing public statements in the media, which he said created negative perceptions of the party’s leadership.
“Any dissatisfaction or defence must be raised through the proper channel, namely proceedings before the disciplinary board, and not through press conferences or public statements that weaken the party’s image.
“Loyalty to the party, its leadership and struggle must take precedence over individual interests,” he added.
He stressed that the party should not be allowed to become an arena for personal conflicts.
Mohamad Hanifah also reminded members to return to the founding spirit of Bersatu, which is to fight for the people and the country, not for themselves.
The statements came in response to calls to refer Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz to the disciplinary board over alleged threats against division leaders linked to a purported plot to oust party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Ahead of the party’s annual general assembly earlier this month, there had been talk of statutory declarations among division leaders calling for Muhyiddin to step down as president.
