Police launch investigation following viral fight video in Kuala Kangsar


IPOH: The police are investigating a fight between two groups in Kuala Kangsar that was seen in a 26-second video uploaded on TikTok on Saturday (Sept 27).

Kuala Kangsar OCPD Asst Comm Heisham Harun said the police are attempting to locate those involved in the incident, as well as the social media user whose handle is "Qall", who uploaded the video, to assist with investigations.

"The case will be investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting while armed with a deadly weapon.

"Those found guilty can be jailed up to five years or fined or both," he said in a statement on Saturday.

He added that the matter would also be investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities.

"Those found guilty can be fined up to RM50,000 or face a jail term of not more than one year or both," he said.

"We also advise the people not to speculate on the matter, which may cause public outrage.

"Those with information on the incident are to contact investigating officer Insp A. Justin Ruben at 010-569 9754," he added.
