11,000 cited for flouting traffic laws in just three days


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have issued 11,308 notices this week as part of the ongoing operation to ensure adherence to traffic laws.

The notices were served from Tuesday to Thursday (Sept 23 to 25) under Ops PUU, or Compliance of Law.

City deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said in a statement on Friday (Sept 26) that 5,217 of the notices were issued for obstructing traffic.

A further 2,489 were given out for not obeying traffic lights, he added.

"The total (notices) issued throughout the operation from Sept 6 to Sept 25 now stands at 60,596," he said.
