KUALA LUMPUR: A deputy public prosecutor assigned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), who was detained for suspected drug offences, has been remanded for three days.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the suspect has been remanded until Thursday (Sept 25).

"We are investigating under Sections 12(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said when contacted on Wednesday (Sept 24).

The officer, who had just reported for duty last week, was detained by police at his residence on Tuesday (Sept 23).

An inspection of the premises then led to the discovery of substances suspected to be drugs.

The MACC said the case has been handed over entirely to the police for further investigation, and pledged its full cooperation.

"The commission will not tolerate any misconduct, breach of the law, or criminal acts by any of its officers or staff.

"We are committed to upholding integrity and good governance at all times

The commission added that it remains firm in ensuring its personnel maintain the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.
