KOTA KINABALU: Edna Majimbun, the daughter of a prominent family here has joined Parti Warisan.

The 47-year-old daughter of a respected former Sepanggar MP Datuk Eric Majimbun, looks set to be Warisan's candidate for the Inanam seat.

The seat is currently held by Pakatan's Datuk Peto Galim.

However, Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said it was not time to announce seats and candidacy yet.

"The time will come.. not to announce now," he said.

He said this is so that no other parties would go after or buy off their candidates if names were announced early.

He said the new membership from Edna was important for the party in terms of young leadership and gender inclusivity.

Edna, currently the Kota Kinabalu native chief, said she had never joined any party before this.

She chose to enter politics as she felt it was time for Sabahans to unite.

"And I feel that Parti Warisan is the only party that can unite us," she said.

Asked what her father thought about her decision to join Warisan, she declined to comment.

She said she is old enough to make her own decisions.

Her father Eric was Sabah Progressive Party deputy president and held the Sepanggar parliament seat (previously known as Gaya).
