Thunderstorm warning issued for seven state and KL


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected across several atates, with warnings in effect until 5pm on Monday (Sept 22), said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a post on its Facebook page.

In Terengganu, areas including Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun, and Kemaman are on alert for severe weather.

In Pahang, regions such as Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Bentong, and Bera are expected to be affected.

In Selangor, districts including Gombak, Petaling, and Hulu Langat are under the warning, as well as Kuala Lumpur.

In Negeri Sembilan, Jelebu and Seremban are forecasted to experience adverse conditions.

In Johor, areas such as Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Bahru are on alert.

In Sarawak, regions including Sibu (Selangau), Mukah (Dalat and Mukah), Kapit (Kapit), Bintulu, Miri, and Limbang are expected to face severe weather.

In Sabah, the Interior regions of Sipitang and Nabawan, as well as the West Coast area of Papar and Sandakan (Kinabatangan), are forecasted to experience adverse conditions.

MeMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
